Biography
Marisol opened Rivera Family Law in 2016 after seven years at a general civil firm where family cases were treated as an afterthought. She had watched too many parents receive a decree they did not understand, drafted by someone in a hurry, and decided that a practice doing only family law would do it better.
She is board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a credential fewer than one in ten Texas family lawyers holds. In practice it means she has tried the cases, passed the examination and keeps the continuing education current. It also means she is the one the firm's other attorneys walk down the hall to ask.
Marisol grew up in the Lower Valley, went to school here, and raised two children here. She takes the geographic restriction question personally, because she has watched what a move to Dallas does to a ten-year-old's relationship with a father who works shifts at the refinery.
She tries cases when a case needs trying. She also tells clients plainly when a mediated settlement is the better outcome, which is more often than most people expect.
