Daniel Okonkwo

Biography

Daniel spent four years as an assistant attorney general in the child support division before joining the firm, which means he has stood on both sides of a withholding order. He knows how the state calculates arrears, how the disbursement unit actually applies a payment, and why a payment made directly to the other parent often does not count.

His speciality is the obligor whose tax return says one thing and whose life says another. Reconstructing income from a cash business, a construction contractor's 1099s or an owner's draw schedule is painstaking work, and Daniel is unusually good at it.

He also handles the other direction: defending a genuinely struggling parent against an arrearage calculation that includes interest applied incorrectly, or a withholding order that never stopped after the youngest child graduated.

Daniel teaches a continuing education segment on net resources for the El Paso Bar Association twice a year.
