Biography
Alejandra came to the firm from a domestic violence legal aid clinic, where she filed more than two hundred protective order applications. She is the attorney we call when someone needs to be in front of a judge today.
Her work begins before the paperwork. She walks through the safety plan first: where you will sleep, who has keys, what the children have been told and what to do if the respondent shows up at the school. The legal filing follows the plan rather than the other way round.
She also defends protective order applications, which she regards as part of the same duty. A protective order carries firearm, employment and immigration consequences, and an application built on a misunderstanding deserves a real hearing.
Alejandra takes two pro bono protective order matters each quarter through the El Paso Bar Association referral programme.
